The National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) has stated that former Namibia Football Association secretary general Barry Rukoro is not a member of the party and therefore cannot participate in Nudo’s elective congress.
Rukoro announced earlier this year that he was vying for Nudo’s presidency, despite the party insisting he was not a member.
Rukoro had stated he is a Nudo member “by birth.”
The party’s elective congress is under way after starting in Windhoek on Friday, despite some delays, which Nudo secretary general Joseph Kauandenge stated were due to internal issues they were trying to solve.
Former Okakarara constituency regional councillor Vetaruhe Kandorozu, Aminuis constituency regional councillor and party vice president Peter Kazongominja, as well as Joseph Uapingene are vying for the party’s top job.
Rukoro did not respond to calls and messages sent to him on Saturday.
