ECN registers over 800 000 voters

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has announced that it has registered 823 761 voters for the November elections.

This was announced on the commission’s Facebook page this week.

“The commission has noted a slight improvement with approximately a 147 371 increase in voter registration turnout during the week of 1 to 6 July. However, the commission is still concerned about the overall low turnout nationwide. The commission urges all eligible Namibian citizens who have not yet registered to do so within the remaining three weeks before the end of the general registration of voters (GRV) period,” the ECN said.

The commission added: “Fellow Namibians, you are reminded that there will be no extension of the voter registration period. The GRV will continue across the country and at all Namibian diplomatic missions abroad until 1 August 2024, Monday to Saturday from 08h00 to 19h00.”
