Eight people lost their lives in a head-on collision on the B1 road between Otjiwarongo and Otavi on Tuesday afternoon.
Otjozondjupa senior inspector from the community policing sub-divison, Maureen Mbeha, confirmed that the accident happened about 20km towards Otavi.
She reports that there were eight fatalities at the scene.
A preliminary investigation reveals that a vehicle, which was travelling from Otjiwarongo, was overtaking another vehicle when it collided head-on with an oncoming seven-seater. All the deceased people were in the seven-seater.
Police investigations are still underway.
