A POLICE officer from Tsumeb may find himself in a world of trouble once his colleagues trace the prime witness in a theft charge being investigated against him.
The officer in question reportedly received N$300 from a certain Aron Haufiku, who paid the amount as an admission of guilt for a friend who was fined for an overloaded vehicle last year. According to a Police officer investigating the case in Tsumeb, a warrant of arrest was issued for this friend when the case nevertheless ended up in court without him being present or aware of it.The court had never received the said payment. It was finally discovered that the officer had received the money and had issued a receipt to Haufiku, but only after his friend had to pay an additional amount for his freedom. The officer apparently hadn’t forwarded this payment to the court. The Police are now trying to trace Aron Hamalwa Haufiku to assist them in their investigation against the said officer.Haufiku, or anyone with information on his whereabouts, is requested to contact Detective Constable Apollonius Malenga at (067) 223 5049 or 081 280 0672.According to a Police officer investigating the case in Tsumeb, a warrant of arrest was issued for this friend when the case nevertheless ended up in court without him being present or aware of it.The court had never received the said payment. It was finally discovered that the officer had received the money and had issued a receipt to Haufiku, but only after his friend had to pay an additional amount for his freedom. The officer apparently hadn’t forwarded this payment to the court. The Police are now trying to trace Aron Hamalwa Haufiku to assist them in their investigation against the said officer.Haufiku, or anyone with information on his whereabouts, is requested to contact Detective Constable Apollonius Malenga at (067) 223 5049 or 081 280 0672.
