Give Us Choice, MultiChoice

THE sport fans who are whining about paying for DStv and not being able to see English soccer must keep in mind that there are people who watch no sport at all, yet also pay the full subscription fee to subsidise the astronomical costs of televising live sport events.

I think MultiChoice should offer different DStv bouquets, one without sport and one sport only, and let the sport fans pay for their pleasure and the movie fans for theirs. At last count, there were 12 active sport channels on DStv, and only five dedicated movie channels.MNet can’t be called a movie channel anymore because it’s packed full of sport and inane lowbrow game shows such as ‘Big Brother’, ‘Idols’, ‘Survivor’ and ‘Deal Or No Deal’.Isn’t it time that we are offered a choice of what we’re willing to pay for? At this rate it might soon become a better option for me to rent a DVD of my choice every evening – it would cost the same.Movie Buff WindhoekAt last count, there were 12 active sport channels on DStv, and only five dedicated movie channels.MNet can’t be called a movie channel anymore because it’s packed full of sport and inane lowbrow game shows such as ‘Big Brother’, ‘Idols’, ‘Survivor’ and ‘Deal Or No Deal’.Isn’t it time that we are offered a choice of what we’re willing to pay for?
