Three trial-awaiting prisoners escaped from the Karasburg Police cells yesterday morning after cutting open the roof of their cell.

Theofilus Basson (22) was being held for theft and escape from lawful custody, Erik Blaauw (21) for housebreaking and theft, and Paul Mostert (32) for being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
