I WOULD like to add my voice to those who have complained about banks and the high charges they exact for (questionable) service.
Recently a member of our society needed some extra copies of bank statements, which a bank provided at N$7 per page! If we had taken the original statements to a photocopy centre we would have paid 40 cents per page. How can the bank justify charging as much as N$7? I wrote a letter to the bank manager about it but I have not received a reply.A few years ago the bank where I have my account stopped issuing cheques in foreign currencies. When I questioned the decision I was told that everything is done nowadays by electronic transfer.I pay a yearly subscription to a British magazine. The publishers will not accept electronic transfers from overseas. How can I pay the subscription? I wrote a letter to the bank manager about this also, but did not receive a reply. Some bank personnel do not seem to know that it is common courtesy to answer letters, even if the answer is negative. The bank advertisements which boast about quality service have a hollow ring!
