THE Northern Regions Electricity Distributor (Nored) has shot down allegations by Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) Secretary Paulus Kapia that the company is sabotaging President Sam Nujoma.
Kapia made the claim when he addressed a youth rally at the party regional office at Oshakati on Saturday. He alleged that Nored had planned an electricity failure while President Nujoma was speaking at the official inauguration of the Olute Foods’ Research and Development and the Community Skills Development Centre (Cosdec) at Ondangwa on Friday. However, Nored Spokesperson Frans Niikondo told Nampa that the power failure was as a result of a damaged underground cable running from NamWater camp to Ondangwa north.”It was just an unfortunate situation and not a planned power failure as the guy is alleging,” Niikondo said, adding that on the same day his company had had to deal with another power failure at Onethindi-Okakwiyu near Ondangwa after a tree fell on an electricity line there.Nored’s Board Chairperson and Swapo-Party Oshana Regional Co-ordinator, Erastus Uutoni, were not immediately available for comment.NampaHe alleged that Nored had planned an electricity failure while President Nujoma was speaking at the official inauguration of the Olute Foods’ Research and Development and the Community Skills Development Centre (Cosdec) at Ondangwa on Friday. However, Nored Spokesperson Frans Niikondo told Nampa that the power failure was as a result of a damaged underground cable running from NamWater camp to Ondangwa north.”It was just an unfortunate situation and not a planned power failure as the guy is alleging,” Niikondo said, adding that on the same day his company had had to deal with another power failure at Onethindi-Okakwiyu near Ondangwa after a tree fell on an electricity line there.Nored’s Board Chairperson and Swapo-Party Oshana Regional Co-ordinator, Erastus Uutoni, were not immediately available for comment.Nampa
