TransNamib cuts bus services

TRANSNAMIB is to stop some of its passenger bus services across the country saying they had proved uneconomical.

The company says it introduced various measures over the years to improve viability, but they had not produced the desired results. As from February 16 the following routes will be cancelled: * Keetmanshoop – Gainachas – Keetmanshoop on Mondays and Fridays * Keetmanshoop – Aroab – Keetmanshoop on Wednesdays * Keetmanshoop – Koes – Keetmanshoop on Thursdays * Gobabis – Aranos – Gobabis on Mondays * Gobabis – Epukiro – Gobabis on Tuesdays * Gobabis – Post 13 – Gobabis on Wednesdays * Gobabis – Rietfontein – Gobabis on Fridays * Grootfontein – Tsumkwe – Gam on Thursdays * Gam – Tsumkwe – Grootfontein on Fridays * Windhoek – Hoachanas – Windhoek on Mondays * Windhoek – Aminuis – Windhoek on Fridays * Windhoek – Epukiro on Fridays * Epukiro – Windhoek on SundaysTransNamib will also eschedule other routes as from February 16 in a bid to ensure economic viability.Hoachanas will be cut from the Mariental – Aranos route.The bus will now run directly from Mariental to Stampriet and then to Aranos and back on a Fridays.Also, there will be no service between Keetmanshoop and Luderitz on a Wednesday.This route will only be serviced on Mondays and Fridays.As from February 16 the following routes will be cancelled: * Keetmanshoop – Gainachas – Keetmanshoop on Mondays and Fridays * Keetmanshoop – Aroab – Keetmanshoop on Wednesdays * Keetmanshoop – Koes – Keetmanshoop on Thursdays * Gobabis – Aranos – Gobabis on Mondays * Gobabis – Epukiro – Gobabis on Tuesdays * Gobabis – Post 13 – Gobabis on Wednesdays * Gobabis – Rietfontein – Gobabis on Fridays * Grootfontein – Tsumkwe – Gam on Thursdays * Gam – Tsumkwe – Grootfontein on Fridays * Windhoek – Hoachanas – Windhoek on Mondays * Windhoek – Aminuis – Windhoek on Fridays * Windhoek – Epukiro on Fridays * Epukiro – Windhoek on Sundays TransNamib will also eschedule other routes as from February 16 in a bid to ensure economic viability.
