THIS week’s heavy downpours over the central interior have started to improve Windhoek’s water situation.

At 16h00 yesterday Windhoek’s main supply reservoir, Von Bach dam, was 36,4 per cent full compared with 28 per cent on Monday. Other dams in the central area of the country have also received inflows.Swakoppoort was 38,5 per cent full yesterday compared to 31,7 per cent on Monday, while Goreangab was overflowing at 104,4 per cent yesterday.In the South, Hardap’s level has increased only marginally since the start of the week.On Monday it stood at 35,3 per cent of its capacity, while yesterday it was at 35,9 per cent.Other dams in the central area of the country have also received inflows.
