Organisers and committee members are hard at work behind the scenes to ensure that sponsors, spectators and participants will have a memorable experience at the Shell V-Power Swakop Rally 2023.
According to the organisers, it will be a short but intense rally, as it consists of only 10 stages with two service parks.
Chairperson of the Walvis Bay Motor Club (WBMC) Wido Bartsch told Top Revs that the total distance of the rally is a mere 135km, of which 100km consists of special stages in and around Swakopmund.
The rally will start at the Ocean View Service station at 10h00, ending at the go-kart tracks outside the coastal holiday town.
Some of the preliminary entries are Berto Mostert and his navigator, Chané Havenga in their VW Golf S2 class. Loic Bathfield and Johan Steyn will again be the talk of the town, with their mighty Century Racing CR-6 monster in the CR1 class. Other big names like Rian Kritzinger and Ian Stander as his navigator will take part in their newly acquired Ford Ranger V8. The likes of Wilro Dippenaar and Carolyn Swan in their Ford Fiesta R5, and Ekko Eisenberg and Rassie Rietz in their JAC will ensure the dust stays in the air.
The different classes that will pull up at the starting point are S2, CR2, CR1, S1 and S4 vehicles.
The event received sponsorship from various companies, including Shell V-Power, JP hydraulics Racing, Safewear Namibia, Skyway, and Seal Consulting Engineers.
The organisers called on the public to adhere to the safety officers’ and marshals’ directions at all times for their own safety, while at the same time enjoying every moment along the tracks.
The rally is organised and hosted by WBMC under the auspices of the Namibia Motorsport Federation.
