A police officer at Mariental in the Hardap region allegedly killed his wife at a church before turning the gun on himself later on Thursday afternoon.
Police chief inspector Elifas Kuwinga confirmed the incident, and said the wife has been identified as Johanna Cecilia Keramin Beukes (37) and the husband Michael Edwin Beukes (47).
A family member of the wife, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the couple reportedly had marital problems and the wife threatened him with a divorce.
The incident reportedly took place at a local church in the presence of the couple’s toddler.
The wife was reportedly at choir rehearsals when the husband arrived and allegedly shot her. He reportedly fired off random shots as well in the church.
