THE Ministry of Information and Communication Technology yesterday unveiled the 25th Independence Anniversary logo in Windhoek.
Officially launching the logo, MICT permanent secretary Mbeuta Ua-Ndjarakana said the moderation of the logo is in line with the country’s 25th anniversary celebrations that will take place on 21 March.
Last year the ministry of information advertised a tender inviting local artists to compete in the making of the logo and Boldrin Titus’ design was chosen.
A graphic designer by profession, Titus said the new logo took him a week to design.
“I was actually rushing to hand in my design before the deadline. So I decided to go for the shaped circle, giving the new logo a modern and clean look. Most importantly, I made sure to include the colours of our national flag,” he stated.
The vibrant 33-year-old said he is honoured to have been chosen from a selection of 28 applicants for the best design.
“I am really happy that my logo will be representing the country for the next five years,” said Titus.
The new logo cost about N$10 000 to design.
Apart from the colours of the flag in the form of an abstract landscape representing our country, the logo also has jubilee figures in different colours which represent the different cultural groups in Namibia. With their hands raised above their heads, the figures illustrate joy and unity while reaching up to the sky.
