THE Coca-Cola Namibia School Sports Union (NSSU) National Championships in Windhoek over the weekend saw some excellent performances as a total of 21 new records were established.
More than 800 athletes from all 14 of Namibia’s regions competed at the championships which took place at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on 27 and 28 April.
Athletes competed in various age group categories, ranging from 12-13, 14-15, 16-17 and 18-19 year old categories.
Khomas was the most successful region, winning a total of 74 medals, consisting of 29 gold, 25 silver and 20 bronze medals.
Otjozondjupa came second with 43 medals (15 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze) and Hardap third with 37 medals (14 bronze, 13 silver and 10 bronze).
They were followed by Erongo with 42 medals in total (10 gold, 13 silver and 19 bronze); Omusati wth 16 in total (9 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze); Oshikoto with 31 in total (8 gold, 11 silver, 12 bronze); and Ohangwena with 15 in total (5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze).

Girls 14-15 High Jump: Annemarie le Roux of Khomas – 1,55m.
Boys 14-15 Shot Put: Cornelius Kuhn of Kunene – 15,80m.
Boys 16-17 Discus: Ryan Williams of Omaheke – 49.90m.
Boys 16-17 Triple Jump: Gian Dresselhaus of Khomas – 13,82m.
Boys 12-13 Javelin: Dirk Theunissen of Khomas – 40,66m.
Boys 14-15 400m: Wildick Keith of //Kharas – 51,23 seconds.
Boys 14-15 Discus: Leeorr-ell Breytenbach of Khomas – 52,72m.
Girls 16-17 Triple Jump: Annette van Staden of Khomas – 10,81m.
Girls 14-15 Shot Put: Danel Dreyer of Hardap – 12,00m.
Girls 12-13 75m Hurdles: Porsche Botha of Khomas – 12,37 seconds.
Girls 14-15 80m Hurdles: Rume Kotze of Hardap – 13,22 seconds.
Boys 14-15 100m Hurdles: Jonathan Hanekom of Hardap – 14,77 seconds.
Girls 14-15 Discus: Danel Dreyer of Hardap – 33,98m.
Boys 14-15 High Jump: David Afrikaner of //Kharas – 1,70m.
Boys 12-13 Long Jump: Jurenzo Julius of Erongo – 5,85m.
Girls 12-13 200m Hurdles: Mione Garbers of Khomas – 31,21 seconds.
Girls 14-15 300m Hurdles: Mia Brandt of Khomas – 49,89 seconds.
Boys 14-15 300m Hurdles: Moses Kaeka of Otjozondjupa – 42,72 seconds.
Boys 12-13 200m: Jurenzo Julius of Erongo – 24,75 seconds.
Girls 18-19 Triple Jump: Jesse Joseph of Hardap – 11,22m.
