Youth Queries Aids Pamphlet

Youth Queries Aids Pamphlet

THIS is the second time I am writing to the Namibian.

The last time I wrote it was 4 years ago, but it doesn’t seem like anybody heard what I was saying. The old age question about condoms comes up again.Today I read a little pamphlet about STDs put together by New Start. My only question to them is: Where are you getting your information? Seems to me whoever did the research forgot to put some facts in.Very important facts for that matter.Facts like: Condoms don’t protect you from all STD’S and that condoms don’t protect you a hundred percent of the time. What? Was there not enough space to print the truth or has someone been slipping up on their research skills? There are two STDs I know about that are spread by skin to skin contact.Human Papeloma Virus or HPV and Herpes. These STD’S are passed on, by skin to skin contact, condoms don’t protect you from them.I find it really sad that the youth of our country don’t know these facts, because the people who have the power to tell them, aren’t telling them. But one of the things that really, really got to me about this pamphlet was something about sex, and I quote: “Before you have sex, check your partner for signs of STD’s, a rash, a sore, a redness or a discharge.”This really sickens me.What has sex become? A cheap act, where you have to “check” someone before you can sleep with them because you are to afraid to get an STD.That’s not what God had in mind when He created sex.It was to be between ONE man and ONE woman. If people stuck to God’s law, sex wouldn’t be so dangerous, but the world tells us we can’t control ourselves. That’s the biggest lie.I am 18 years old and I have never had sex.All I do is practise SELF CONTROL.If I can do it so can the rest of our nation.Young people of Namibia, I urge you to be different and to make a difference in our nation. If we don’t do it, who will? I am very worried about our nation and the safety of our future. The adults of our nation tell us it can’t be done, just tell me this, who started the spread of it in our country in the first place?I am sick and tired of hearing from Take Control, that I can’t control myself and that I am no less than an animal who has to have sex whenever, and wherever! Young people, become a generation that our children can be proud of.Be young people with moral standards and character, don’t let your children be parentless because of AIDS.Lets stand together and change our nation!Ann-Meri Holtzhausen Via e-mailThe old age question about condoms comes up again.Today I read a little pamphlet about STDs put together by New Start. My only question to them is: Where are you getting your information?
