THE Khomas under-17 development football league will kick off this weekend.
The development league was officially launched at Soccer House yesterday and 24 teams divided into two streams will compete. The pilot project funded by the Namibia Football Consortium (NFC) to the tune of N$100 000 will roll out in Rundu in the Kavango Region on June 20.NFA acting secretary general Barry Rukoro said Windhoek and Rundu are ideal places to have the pilot projects up and running, adding that the idea is to have an under-17 development league throughout the country. He said the NFA Technical Department has accepted a women’s football club to compete against their male counterparts, adding that there will be no sexual discrimination whatsoever. The stream winners will play each other for the title of the Khomas Under-17 League Championship in the final scheduled for September 8 and 9.The league winner will pocket N$5 000, gold medals and a trophy. The runners-up will take home N$1 000 and the third best team will receive N$700.The fourth- and fifth-placed teams will receive N$600 and N$500 while the sixth-placed team will get N$400.NampaThe pilot project funded by the Namibia Football Consortium (NFC) to the tune of N$100 000 will roll out in Rundu in the Kavango Region on June 20.NFA acting secretary general Barry Rukoro said Windhoek and Rundu are ideal places to have the pilot projects up and running, adding that the idea is to have an under-17 development league throughout the country. The runners-up will take home N$1 000 and the third best team will receive N$700.The fourth- and fifth-placed teams will receive N$600 and N$500 while the sixth-placed team will get N$400.Nampa
