THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) together with SMEs Compete will hold a Christmas street market in Windhoek’s Zoo Park on Saturday.
NCCI’s manager of the Windhoek branch, Vee Maharaj, said about 25 small and medium sized enterprises would participate in the street expo. Products on sale will include curios, cosmetics, clothing, carpets.Street markets – which normally attract a carnival atmosphere – have become a regular feature in Windhoek where they are held quarterly.Speaking of the event, SME Compete’s Danny Meyer said it provided SME owners with exposure to the city’s central business district area, where there were customers and potential business.Since most SMEs could not afford city shop rentals, Meyer added that they would treasure such an event which gave them a chance to sell their wares in the business hub of the capital city.Said Meyer, “It provides market access opportunity for SMEs and exposes them to customers who would normally not visit Windhoek’s Katutura high-density suburb where most of their businesses are located.”Products on sale will include curios, cosmetics, clothing, carpets.Street markets – which normally attract a carnival atmosphere – have become a regular feature in Windhoek where they are held quarterly.Speaking of the event, SME Compete’s Danny Meyer said it provided SME owners with exposure to the city’s central business district area, where there were customers and potential business.Since most SMEs could not afford city shop rentals, Meyer added that they would treasure such an event which gave them a chance to sell their wares in the business hub of the capital city.Said Meyer, “It provides market access opportunity for SMEs and exposes them to customers who would normally not visit Windhoek’s Katutura high-density suburb where most of their businesses are located.”
