Wrestlers in SA medal haul

NAMIBIAN wrestlers recently competed at the South African Regional Wrestling Championships and managed to bag 18 medals in total.

Namibia entered 24 wrestlers for the championships, which serves as a qualifier for the South African Youth Championships. Among the top Namibian contenders who got gold at the junior event were Morné Meyer, Michael Thomas, Efraim Thomas, Christo Pienaar, Duaan Fourie, Lourens van Schalkwyk, Kian Fourie, Andre Augustyn and Armand Steyn.The silver medallists were Leon Maree, Sherwin Kotze, Bartho Harmse and Gideon Nanub, while bronze medals were scooped by Javier Punzul, Abraham Nambalo, Dawid Henning, Henning van Wyk and Lukas Pafewa.Petrus Theron, Jureck Johannesson, Wiks Tromp and Louis van der Westhuizen managed to get fourth places.The President of the Namibia Wrestling Federation (NWF), Dawie Augustyn, thanked officials from the Ministry of Sport as well as Michael Meyer and Lukas Maree, who made it possible for the wrestlers to compete.
