Work to resume

OSHAKATI – Voluntary work on the Tsumeb-Oshikango Railway Project will resume on Friday.

Chairman of the Voluntary Work Committee for the project, Ishmael Uugwanga, said volunteers could now register to work on the railway line. Voluntary work on the project stopped in November for a Christmas break.Thousands of volunteers from across the country have worked on the project since it started in 2002.This followed President Sam Nujoma’s call for the Namibian citizens to work on the railway during their spare time.The railway line from Tsumeb to Oshikango will stretch 310 km when it is completed.It will also branch off to Oshakati from Ondangwa, where a station is to be built.The first phase of the project – Tsumeb to Ondangwa – is due to be completed this year or early next year.Works, Transport and Communications Minister Moses Amweelo told Nampa last year that the entire project would cost more than N$800 million.- NampaVoluntary work on the project stopped in November for a Christmas break.
