A 40-year-old woman in northern Namibia has been arrested for cutting a seven-year-old orphan between her vagina and anus, pouring hot water all over her and beating her.
Selma Shiyuka, who is supposed to be caring for the child, apparently took a blade and cut the seven-year-old girl between her anus and vagina on April 13. She then boiled water and poured the hot water on the wound, the vagina and other parts of the body.After that, she is alleged to have taken a dry stick and beaten the girl all over her body.The child sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Engela Hospital.She was later transferred to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital where she is now being treated.Shiyuka was arrestedon April 16.Ohangwena Police Deputy Commissioner Armas Kasita Shivute confirmed the incident to The Namibian yesterday and said that Shiyuka had appeared in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on April 17.She was charged with assault with intent to cause bodily harm.Her case was postponed to June 6 for further Police investigation.Shiyuka is free on free bail.”How can she be out on free bail, when she has committed a very serious offence,” one angry resident asked The Namibian.She then boiled water and poured the hot water on the wound, the vagina and other parts of the body.After that, she is alleged to have taken a dry stick and beaten the girl all over her body.The child sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Engela Hospital.She was later transferred to the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital where she is now being treated.Shiyuka was arrestedon April 16.
