Williams returns

CARDIFF – Wales’ world player of the year Shane Williams will have recovered from a shoulder injury in time to play for his side Ospreys in their crucial European Cup match with French outfit Perpignan on January 17 according to the Welsh club.

The 31-year-old has not played since he injured the shoulder in a European Cup match with Italian team Benetton Treviso on December 13, and Ospreys said that he may even play some role in the Celtic League match with European Cup champions Munster on Friday.
‘We are fairly confident (that he’ll be available for Munster),’ Ospreys coach Sean Holley told BBC Sport Wales.
‘Shane’s had a fortnight off and a slight injection in a shoulder issue that seems to be resolving.
‘He’s back in full training as of (Sunday), we’ll see how he goes to see whether he’s available for Munster, but certainly the future looks good.’
Williams, Wales’ all-time leading try scorer with 44 in 61 tests, was a huge factor in Wales’ Six Nations Grand Slam last year as he scored tries in four of their five matches and earned him the accolade of Six Nations Player of the Year. – Nampa-AFP
