Wife appeals for help with missing husband

MORE than 15 years after the unexplained disappearance of Petrus Natangwe Kakonya, his wife has still not given up on the search for her husband.

Kakonya’s wife, Jacobin Kakonya, is now appealing to the public for information that could help her find out where her husband is, or what happened to him when he disappeared without trace 15 years and three months ago.Petrus Kakonya was 33 years old when, on October 31 1995, he told his wife at their place of employment, the Directorate of Forestry’s office at Ongwediva, that he was going out for lunch.He never came back.He was also not at home when Mrs Kakonya returned home that evening.Mrs Kakonya says she never heard anything from her husband again.She says she reported his disappearance to the Police at Oshakati and to headman Fillipus Stefanus of their village, Ondiikela in the Oshana Region, but her search has been fruitless.Kakonya had been working in the Ministry of Agriculture’s Forestry Directorate since 1991.He was born on April 15 1962.Kakonya and his wife have four children – three sons and a daughter.Mrs Kakonya is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of her husband, or her husband himself, to contact her at cellphone 081 614 1429.She says if no information on his whereabouts is forthcoming she might have to bring an application in the High Court to have him declared as presumed dead.
