FIRST of all, I would like to use this opportunity to thank The Namibian for truly being there for the people – a job well done! I’m a student at the University of Namibia concerned about the student representatives in Unam.
Apparently these people are elected by students to represent them, but what these guys are doing is indiscernible, nothing they do seems to concern students. Currently there are burning issues around the campus and there is a critical need to address them, but these issues are disregarded and left out without proper redress. The University has set a date by which all the students have to settle their accounts or there will be no entry to the examination and the date is Monday 17 October 2005.The fact is that the University of Namibia warned students long ago that they must settle their accounts while there is time.Of course there are those who were not able to pay due to financial constraints and there are those who were capable of paying. What the student representatives failed to do was to make provisional arrangements with the University of Namibia until last week when it was too late to negotiate with the Unam management. Most of the students have already started withdrawing from the University because there is no hope since the management says it’s too late for negotiation. What these representatives are doing is just exposing themselves and showing off, which takes them nowhere. They must really stand up and start doing their task as assigned to them. They must demonstrate good example and show us that they are not good for nothing.Mosquito Windhoek Note: Real name and address provided – EdCurrently there are burning issues around the campus and there is a critical need to address them, but these issues are disregarded and left out without proper redress. They must demonstrate good example and show us that they are not good for nothing.
