What Happens In Swapo Affects

All I COULD not help but feel compelled to comment, through your popular newspaper, on the developments in our country especially the ICC submission and the aftermath responses to the issue by Swapo.

I had once written in your newspaper that what happens in Swapo affects also those of us who are not necessarily members. In this context, it is not clear to me why the ICC issue has become such a thorn in the flesh of Swapo hardliners such as President Pohamba, Tjiriange, Ngurare and Kaaronda.Yet, Mr Nujoma and the three others implicated are themselves mute over the issue. To me the issue is a simple one and has no reason for Ngurare to invoke the use of ‘bazookas and machine guns’ in order to silence critics. Why do people not understand that the ICC submission was just an exercise by the National Society of Human Rights as part of freedom and speech guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia? It is childish therefore that the likes of Ngurare now want to take the country to war just because Nujoma is criticised.Mr Ngurare, I congratulate you on your new position, but remember my advice earlier this year that you must now be a leader of all and not blindly following the smoke that leads you to Nujoma.I believe you are a well-educated young man and as one friend of yours put it to me, you have the potential to listen to both sides. This friend of yours was saying this referring to your leadership as President of the SRC at your high school, back in the days of Nanso: remember? Take my advice again – leave the bazookas and machine guns alone to reach out to your fellow countrymen and women, including those who don’t necessarily regard Nujoma as untouchable.Citizen Via e-mail Note: Name and address provided.- EdIn this context, it is not clear to me why the ICC issue has become such a thorn in the flesh of Swapo hardliners such as President Pohamba, Tjiriange, Ngurare and Kaaronda.Yet, Mr Nujoma and the three others implicated are themselves mute over the issue.
