WHO should I blame – the government, City of Windhoek or both? Because I feel I must.
I saw shelters of poor Namibians being shamelessly pulled down on TV. What crime have they committed and in this weather? I heard some saying that they paid their dues, that they were crooked. Why should they all be punished? Where should these people go now? To start paying for another plot again? What about those who have paid? Will they be refunded? What are councillors and government doing about them?I also read not too long ago that government paid or promised to pay some millions to farm owners on which some squatters settled and vowed not to vacate, just outside Windhoek! How much is the plot in dispute now – too expensive for the government to step in or for City of Windhoek to write it off or let people continue paying bit by bit? These people appear to be unemployed or under-employed. How do those who could prevent this from happening feel when they saw this on TV news? How come City of Windhoek was lip-tight about well-to-do members of society who owed it over a million N$? If it wasn’t for Informanté, we would have thought that was all okay. The City Council should learn to treat people equally! We abhor double standard actions! Government should allocate a piece of land to those people! What humanity and inhumanity do we talk about? What type of people does the government want to house and de-house come 2030? Let us unite against poverty and shameful actions against defenceless people!AnonymousVia SMS
