Welcome To An African Hero

I WOULD like to share my opinions about the visit to our country by President Robert Gabriel Mugabe of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

I must say I am indeed gratified that this great African hero will be visiting our country. President Mugabe is a great revolutionary and hero to the majority of people in Africa.Southern Africa and Namibians are no exception. His visit to the land of the brave, presents a rare opportunity to his many admirers and supporters in Namibia to show their solidarity to this true African hero. The Zimbabwean leader has managed to accomplish what no other African leader has dared to accomplish before – he gave his people total independence. He stood up to the two bullies, namely, Bush and Blair, and gave back to the people of Zimbabwe their most valuable asset – the land.He is a consistent, brave and fearless leader. When illegal sanctions were imposed on his country by the likes of Bush and Blair because of the land redistribution programme he initiated, he splendidly managed to socially, economically and politically hold his country together. He has been so successful, that the white controlled media no longer talks of an imminent economic collapse or meltdown in Zimbabwe as they used to say.Despite the illegal sanctions, Zimbabwe is in many ways still a better country than many countries in Southern Africa. In the spirit of SADC, the people of Zimbabwe and their leader deserve the support of every patriotic Namibian. Therefore, President Pohamba should be applauded for making a wise decision to host President Mugabe.Of course, there will always be those solitary voices who for instance will call for his arrest, however, these betrayals are to be expected. Our own struggle has taught us that, no matter what, there will always be those who will fight alongside or on behalf of the enemy. Therefore, it is not surprising at all, that a few spineless black Namibians are calling for his arrest and protests, when he visits. It is jarring that a black person born in this country, in his or her proper sense of mind, would call for the arrest of and protest against President Mugabe, a black leader who has done so much for his people.Yes, currently the people of Zimbabwe are faced with many challenges, especially on the economic front and this is mainly due to the illegal sanctions imposed on their country.Nevertheless, this is part of the sacrifices they have to make for the sake of posterity.Majority of them or their parents sacrificed for political independence, so they can do it again to attain economic emancipation. Finally, I would like to salute President Mugabe and his delegation.Protasius Nghileendele WindhoekPresident Mugabe is a great revolutionary and hero to the majority of people in Africa.Southern Africa and Namibians are no exception. Finally, I would like to salute President Mugabe and his delegation.Protasius Nghileendele Windhoek
