Website Not Fit For The President

I WAS personally shocked to visit the website of the Office of Our President at www.op.gov.na

This is the heading that greets visitors world ide.’A Decade of Peace, Democracy and Prosperity 1990 – 2000′. It appears as if the site has not been updated for a decade. If one goes to his South African counterpart’s website athttp://www.thepresidency.gov.za you literally keep track of President Zuma, he was in Ethiopia you can see latest update on that. When New Era carried an article a week ago about Regional Councils website not being updated to welcome their new Governors I was just thinking that perhaps that is just a weakness at regional level especially by Chief Regional Officers and their administrators who are in charge of day to day administration of their respective council, but I was caught by surprise to learnt that the top Office which is in Windhoek where all major IT companies are based can keep the President’s website out dated for many years, despite the fact that there are people paid by taxpayers every month to make sure that our head of state should not be embarrassed by a website – something that can be done within a week.I just trust that people should even volunteer to help the Office of the President with this issue before we can talk of the regions.Sani ShilongoWindhoek
