We Need To Follow The Rules

We Need To Follow The Rules

IT is a known fact that Namibia has a Constitution and therefore any person visiting, living or working in Namibia must follow the laid down rules and laws of the country. This is in response to Mrs Daphne Forbes whose letter appeared in The Namibian of Friday 24/07/2009.

The problem is Mrs Forbes did not tell the readers what her brother, Trevor Visagie, did so that he ended being arrested. How does one get public sympathy when one does not state one’s case correctly but instead attack Chinese, Angolans, Spaniards, Zimbabweans and Greeks for being in the country with correct papers. If these foreign nationals are in Namibia illegally, why not inform the Nampol or the Home Affairs Ministry? Please tell the readers why your brother was arrested and why you think he should not be in detention. People tend to believe that their relatives cannot commit offences. I am not saying he is a criminal, but overstaying in a country without a valid visa is an offence even in South Africa or Somalia. I know it is tough and frustrating to have a relative in detention in a foreign country andI hope that his case will be resolved amicably. Imms FischWindhoek
