BRAVE Warriors coach Ben Bamfuchile added new local faces to the national team to prepare for a match against a selected team from The Namibian Newspaper Cup at Keetmanshoop this weekend.
The notable inclusions are African Stars defender Mali Ngarizemo and Orlando Pirates skilful midfielder Patrick Jagger. Sport Klub Windhoek goalkeeper Heribert Kapeng also received the nod and will join Athiel Mbaha as the second goalkeeper.Mbaha, a former Blue Waters goalkeeper, is not attached to any club at this stage after he left Black Leopards of South Africa earlier this year.Bamfuchile, who watched the MTC NFA Cup matches at Oshakati’s Independence Stadium at the weekend, could not miss the performances of Ngarizemo and Jagger. The two scored for their teams to help them reach the semi-finals of the competition, of which the draw will be made tomorrow.Apart from the foreign-based players who will not be part of this training group, Bamfuchile has dropped five players and the team only consists of 20 players.Ramblers frontman Costa Khaiseb, defenders Donnelly Nel and Brian Brendell from Civics and Black Africa’s Immanuel Gaeb were all dropped.Deon Naruseb from Robber Chanties was also left out of the squad, but the twin brothers from Epupa Eleven, Muna and Tara Katupose, have been retained.Tigers midfielder Letu Shatimwene, who missed the Libya trip after he failed to join the team in time ahead of their departure, as well as Pirates defender Ivan Namaseb have been called back to the team.Namaseb, who played and scored for his side at the weekend, did not make the Libya trip due to a knee injury.Interestingly, Bamfuchile also retained Namib Chiefs forward Eddy Masweu, while he also kept the hopes of Black Africa striker Jerome Louis alive, despite the striker failing to hit the net at the weekend.Louis has been a revelation for BA and still has a long journey with the national side, provided he keeps a consistent form.Ramblers midfielder Victor Helu and his captain Michael Pienaar also remain in the side, while Rudie Louw, Jamu Ngatizeko and Franklin April form the quartet from Civics.Despite missing out on the quarter-final encounter against SKW at the weekend, African Stars midfielder Johannes Seibeb retains his place in the Warriors side, while Pirates striker Ettiene Beukes also stays.Jeremia Baisako of Tigers was also called back to the side after being dropped for the Libya trip, but he is expected to face competition from April for the left back position, while Pienaar and Ngarizemo will fight it out for the central defensive position.Blue Waters defender Gotlieb Nakuta and Eleven Arrows midfielder-cum-striker Rudolph Bester also form part of the side. The players have been asked to report at Soccer House on Thursday at 09h00, to prepare for their one-off match against The Namibian Shadow Team on April 9.Sport Klub Windhoek goalkeeper
