Viva Rainbow Project: An Open Letter

Viva Rainbow Project: An Open Letter

THIS is the first time I write a letter to your newspaper and I am one of your loyal readers.

Thank you for giving us as the Namibian nation a great platform to express gratitude and concerns to some organisations, institutions and companies etc, who are trying to bring change within our communities. I hereby would like to thank The Rainbow Project, well known as TRP, an organisation campaigning for equal rights and opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Namibia.TRP has brought so much change in my life through empowering, educating, and making me aware of issues of gender, human rights, homosexuality, and society. As a beneficiary of your organisation I do not know how to thank you and express my appreciation for bringing a difference in my life, for opening my family’s eyes to understand and accept me being gay.Yes, disputes occurred, due to the way societies perceive things and because they want one to conduct your life in the way they expect you to present yourself. But yet that was not me and with your support now I am a proud, confident and open person with my orientation and I live my life not hiding, nor offending the person I am with.I am very young and have a lot that I want to achieve in life.I wish you all the best with your hard work that lies ahead within your different programmes.”A Luta Continua.”Linda Baumann WindhoekI hereby would like to thank The Rainbow Project, well known as TRP, an organisation campaigning for equal rights and opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Namibia.TRP has brought so much change in my life through empowering, educating, and making me aware of issues of gender, human rights, homosexuality, and society. But yet that was not me and with your support now I am a proud, confident and open person with my orientation and I live my life not hiding, nor offending the person I am with.I am very young and have a lot that I want to achieve in life.I wish you all the best with your hard work that lies ahead within your different programmes.”A Luta Continua.”Linda Baumann Windhoek
