FOUR people were hijacked at gunpoint by a man in uniform in Klein Windhoek on Friday night.
One of the victims told The Namibian that the group of four – two of whom were visiting from South Africa – were on their way to a Windhoek nightclub at around 21h30.
They had just got into a silver SA-registered Toyota Tazz in Bowker Street in Klein Windhoek when they were confronted by two men, one of whom wore a dark-blue uniform with red and yellow shoulder patches, combat boots and a security guard’s cap.
‘They stopped us and asked for identification. I told the driver of the car that these were not the security guards that usually patrol our street. We then asked him to show us his identification,
and that’s when he pulled out a pistol and told us to leave all our belongings in the car and get out,’ said the woman, who did not want her name published.
She said the hijacker then ordered them to walk away from the car, while cocking his pistol and asking them if they’ve ever been shot before.
‘We didn’t want to be hurt, so we did as he said. We were scared,’ she said.
The two men then got into the car and drove off.
Police spokesman Deputy Commissioner Hophni Hamufungu confirmed that the Police are investigating the incident, but said by yesterday afternoon no arrests had been made.
