PIETER van Wyk was elected as chairperson of the Namibia Premier League (NPL) Board of Governors on Saturday.
The election took place after the nullification of the previous ballot held a fortnight ago, at which Anton van Wyk emerged as the NPL Chairman. However, the Independent Electoral Commission chaired by Agnes Tjongarero found that two clubs, Chief Santos and Touch & Go, were not eligible to vote as they had been relegated from the top flight. The IEC then ordered a re-election which included promoted clubs Golden Bees and Friends FC instead of relegated Chief Santos and Touch & Go.In Saturday’s vote, Anton van Wyk and Pieter van Wyk (no relation) were again the two candidates contesting for the chairmanship but this time, it was Pieter van Wyk who claimed victory with seven votes against his opponent’s five.NampaHowever, the Independent Electoral Commission chaired by Agnes Tjongarero found that two clubs, Chief Santos and Touch & Go, were not eligible to vote as they had been relegated from the top flight. The IEC then ordered a re-election which included promoted clubs Golden Bees and Friends FC instead of relegated Chief Santos and Touch & Go.In Saturday’s vote, Anton van Wyk and Pieter van Wyk (no relation) were again the two candidates contesting for the chairmanship but this time, it was Pieter van Wyk who claimed victory with seven votes against his opponent’s five.Nampa
