ALLOW me to break this down into my simple understanding and urge the youth of today that I as a fellow youth strongly oppose what we seem to drive ourselves into, especially in this era. Do we ever bear in mind that we are the future/ hope of this beloved country and that we should be the moral-fibre of Namibia? We should revolutionise the way we conduct ourselves/behave in this society.
Time has gone by and we just can’t seem to attain things for the best for ourselves. We have become the top consumers of alcohol and drugs and this as an actual fact affects the country negatively it increases the level of unemployment for the reason that an addicted alcoholic person who is economically active, will absent him/herself from work and this will lead to a reduction of our country’s output of goods and services and lower GDP and people will have poor living standards as they spend more money on alcohol rather than on food/ housingWe have become the doers of committing serious brazen crimes in this country; we have become obsessed by sex and we keep running away from the after-effects by pitching or dumping of babies, and in some of the cases we become suicidal. What has gone on in our minds? Have we gone mad? Or is the world coming to an end? These are some of the questions that come into my mind concerning us, the youth of Namibia. I therefore encourage the youth to refrain from alcohol and drug abuse as this will slowly and surely jeopardise your health and other things. Please let us stand tall and be determined. Let us drive ourselves away from influential corrupt friends and partners who will do us no good but who just want to ruin us and tear apart our innocently precious lives. Let us not bring shame to our parents and those who look up to us. Let us set good examples to our young siblings and let us put the Almighty Father first in everything that we do. Let us be the driving force of Vision 2030… and let the comradeship shine brightly within us.Klaudia ShimwetheleniVia e-mail
