THE group of about 120 ‘struggle children’ who have been camping on a Windhoek football field while demanding a meeting with Government have agreed to return to the National Youth Service camp at Berg Aukas.
This was said yesterday by Benitha Nakaambo of the Namibia Exile Kids Association (NEKA).’They are ready to go back, without any conditions,’ Nakaambo told The Namibian. After two protest ‘marches’ to Windhoek and one to Ondangwa in recent weeks, the so-called ‘struggle children’ have received the cold shoulder from Government officials, who said they were ‘nothing special’ and should wait patiently for jobs like all other unemployed youth.A Cabinet directive barred them from camping or protesting on any premises owned by the State or by Swapo and said their behaviour had disqualified them from Government efforts to create jobs for young people born in exile.
