United riding high

Trustco United are riding high in Namibian rugby at the moment with both their men and women’s teams at the top of the log. 

Their men went to the top of the premier league log after beating Rehoboth 46-31 on Saturday, while their women also beat Rehoboth, 41-5, to go to the top of the women’s rugby log. 

United, who led 12-5 at halftime, scored six tries through Roberta Fabio, Richardine Gaya, Nicole Philander, Esmerelda Fuchs, Tjauha Marney and Michelle Slinger, who also added four conversions and a penalty for a personal tally of 16 points. Rehoboth scored one try through Allen de Wee. 

In another match, Wanderers beat Kudus 17-7, with Amanrie Theron and Yanneke Lawrence each scoring a try, while Lawrence converted both and added a penalty. 

Kudus scored one try by Shanygne Kearns, with Tiffany Lawrence adding the conversion. 

United are now unbeaten after three matches and lead the log on 16 points, with Unam second on 12 and Wanderers third on eight points. 

They are followed by Kudus, Rehoboth and Oceans Rugby on six points each, while Okahandja Huskies and Grootfontein are both on zero points. 

The men’s reserve league, meanwhile, is being closely contested with Kudus II and Grootfontein II both on 12 points at the top of the log, while Wanderers II are third on 10 points. 

They are followed by United II and Rehoboth II on eight points each, Reho Falcon II and Western Suburbs II on six points each, and Unam II on one point.
