Uaandja resigns from CGA

THE head of the Central Governance Agency (CGA), Lazarus Uaandja, has resigned after Cabinet approved the closure of the parastatal.

Uaandja’s five-year term was to expire at the end of April. He has decided to return to the financial services industry, which he left five years ago to take up the new position.Uaandja said he hopes to contribute meaningfully to the deepening of job creation, skills development of previously disadvantaged Namibians, the provision of efficient and quality services delivery to his customers and wealth creation. In November 2006 Uaandja received death threats, apparently in connection with the CGA’s probe into how Namibia Liquid Fuels (NLF) had been awarded a contract to supply the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) with petroleum products.Whilst at CGA, his office drafted the State-Owned Enterprises Governance Act, 2006, which governs the State-Owned Enterprises Governance Council and the State-owned enterprises (SOEs).It also compiled, developed and prepared broad guidelines on corporate governance in respect of appointments of chief executives and board members of SOEs, remuneration of board members of SOEs and investment benchmarks for SOEs.He has decided to return to the financial services industry, which he left five years ago to take up the new position.Uaandja said he hopes to contribute meaningfully to the deepening of job creation, skills development of previously disadvantaged Namibians, the provision of efficient and quality services delivery to his customers and wealth creation. In November 2006 Uaandja received death threats, apparently in connection with the CGA’s probe into how Namibia Liquid Fuels (NLF) had been awarded a contract to supply the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) with petroleum products.Whilst at CGA, his office drafted the State-Owned Enterprises Governance Act, 2006, which governs the State-Owned Enterprises Governance Council and the State-owned enterprises (SOEs).It also compiled, developed and prepared broad guidelines on corporate governance in respect of appointments of chief executives and board members of SOEs, remuneration of board members of SOEs and investment benchmarks for SOEs.
