Ua-Ndjarakana re-appointed Prisons Permanent Secretary

MBEUTA Ua-Ndjarakana has been re-appointed as Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Prisons and Correctional Services, barely 10 months after he was removed from the post.

Ua-Ndjarakana’s “re-deployment” was announced by Prime Minister Theo-Ben Gurirab yesterday. Ua-Ndjarakana was moved from the Prisons Ministry in April last year and placed in the Office of Secretary to Cabinet, Frans Kapofi. The transfer, which came a few days after Ua-Ndjarakana was detained for allegedly assaulting his wife, was widely seen as a demotion as his job description was not clearly defined at the time.Yesterday, Gurirab said Ua-Ndjarakana had been transferred “to work on the two droughts that afflicted most parts of our country”.The other three new Permanent Secretaries are: Kahijoro Kahuure, who fills the void left by Dr Vaino Shivute at Agriculture, Water and Rural Development after he left last year to head the State water utility NamWater.Petrus Shivute has been promoted to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. The post was left vacant when Erastus Negonga was transferred to the Ministry of Regional and Local Government and Housing in April. The new PS in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Welfare is Sirkka Ausiku. The post had been vacant since last year when Ulitala Hiveluah was moved to the Ministry of Labour. The new appointments came into effect yesterday.Ua-Ndjarakana was moved from the Prisons Ministry in April last year and placed in the Office of Secretary to Cabinet, Frans Kapofi.
