Two rapes, murders in Maltahöhe district

POLICE in the Hardap Region have launched a manhunt after a 20-year-old woman was raped and stabbed to death in her farmhouse.
The incident happened at the farm Dassiefontein in the Maltahöhe district during the early hours of Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner Kobus Meyer said the murderer had broken a window to get into the house.The name of the victim cannot be published yet because her next of kin have not been informed of her death. According to Meyer, the suspect was working at the farm. Meanwhile, the Police have arrested a 26-year-old man at the Rooi Dam resettlement farm, also in the Maltahöhe district, on charges of raping and murdering his four-year-old stepdaughter. The child was reported missing on March 10 and the Police found her body buried in the backyard of her stepfather’s house three days later, Meyer said. The suspect has appeared in court on charges of murder, rape and defeating the ends of justice. luqman@namibian.com.na
