TWO people died when the car they were travelling in overturned near Arandis on Sunday afternoon.
According to an eyewitness, Allen Shekupe, there were two bodies lying in the road, while the driver was allegedly trapped in the vehicle. The white Mazda Midge had a Walvis Bay registration number.
According to Gabriela Teleman of St Gabriel’s Ambulance Service, who rushed to the scene from Walvis Bay, a 12-year-old boy died on impact, while another person died of his injuries in hospital.
Three others sustained serious injuries.
The death toll on Namibian roads from the beginning of December has risen to 65 people, compared to 57 the same time last year.
Two more accidents were recorded near Walvis Bay and Long Beach on Sunday.
Teleman said a car overturned near Rooibank on Sunday, where two people were involved. The driver allegedly ran away from the scene, while the injured passenger was transported to hospital.
Near Long Beach, a man broke several ribs and a collarbone in a quad-bike accident.
