Two pedestrians killed by cars

TWO pedestrians died in southern Namibia on Saturday after being hit by cars.

In the first incident, Frederick Jacobs (54) was struck by a bakkie near the Multi-purpose Youth Hostel at Tseiblaagte, Keetmanshoop on Saturday night at around 21h30.The driver, Nestus Hamukwaya, yesterday appeared in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on charges of culpable homicide and driving without a valid driver’s licence.He was released on bail of N$1 000. At Lüderitz, Johannes Pieter Lenno (49) was run over by a truck in the Benguela residential area on Saturday.Theofilus Hawala (33) was arrested and appeared in the Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court on charges of culpable homicide, driving an unroadworthy vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s licence.
