Tura Magic went 10 points clear of the chasing pack, but Girls & Goals stayed in touch after both picked up big wins in the FNB Women’s Super League over the weekend.

Magic thrashed Nust Babes 12-1 on Saturday to move up to 55 points at the top of the log.

Thomalina Adams put Magic ahead after nine minutes, and after further goals by Lee-Zan Rooi, Lovisa Mulunga and Memory Ngonda they took a 4-0 lead at the halftime break.

Striker Anna Shikusho got in on the act in the second half, scoring four goals, while further goals by Mulunga, Adams and Ngonda, as well as Chanteline Engelbrecht completed an emphatic victory. Dina Hailulu scored a consolation goal for Nust.

Girls & Goals also posted a big win after thumping Omaheke Queens 13-0 on Sunday, to go second on the log on 45 points.

Their veteran player-coach Uerikondjera Kasaona had a great match, scoring seven goals, while Tjamunene Ndjavera scored a hattrick, Beverly Uueziua a brace and Julia Rutjindo one goal.

That win put them second, 10 points behind Tura Magic, but with two matches in hand, they can still close the gap.

Beauties collected maximum points to move up to third position on 44 points. On Saturday they beat Ongwediva Queens 1-0 and followed that up with a 5-0 win against Ramblers on Sunday, with Kamatuua Tjizeka (two), Nicole Philander, Charmaine Swartbooi and Merolda Bester finding the net.

Unam Bokkies are also on 44 points, just behind Beauties on goal difference, after they had to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Khomas Nampol on Sunday. Ndapewa Katuta and Lilie Kasheeta scored for Nampol, while Taotago Afrikaner and Muhinatjo Hanavi scored for Unam.

On Saturday, Khomas Nampol thrashed Omaheke Queens 17-0 and they are now three points behind Unam Bokkies in fifth place.

Ndapewa Katuta led the way with eight goals, while Twelikondjela Amukoto scored four, Metutjo Tjivikua three, and Martha Haufiku and Ndamononghenda Namwelehe one goal each.

The relegation battle, meanwhile, is hotting up with Okahandja FC moving above Rightway Phoenixes after the weekend’s matches.

They beat Ongwediva Queens 2-1 on Sunday to move up to 12th position on 14 points, while Rightway Phoenixes dropped down to 13th position on 13 points after they failed to pick up a point, going down 2-0 to V Power Angels on Saturday and 2-1 to Nust Babes on Sunday.

Omaheke Queens are bottom of the log on only three points and virtually certain of being relegated, but the other relegation spot is still wide open with  Rightway, Okahandja, Nust Babes (16 points), Namib Daughters (16) and even Ramblers on 17, still in danger of the drop.
