Tsumeb man arrested on suspicion of raping minor

A man (34) was arrested at Tsumeb on Thursday on suspicion of rape and violating the Combating of Immoral Practices Act after he allegedly raped with a girl (15) who was reported as missing.

The Oshikoto region’s crime investigations coordinator, deputy commissioner Titus Ekandjo, said on Thursday that the incident occurred at the Omashaka location and involved a Grade 9 pupil.

“The girl went missing on 27 February 2025,” he said.

The girl’s grandmother became concerned and reported the matter to the police on Wednesday. It was alleged that the girl was seen at the house of a certain taxi driver.

“The police followed up and found the girl at the house of said taxi driver in the Omashaka location,” Ekandjo said.

The suspect is alleged to have raped the girl, and is expected to appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
