Tsheehama to get hero’s funeral

FORMER Member of Parliament Peter Tjirumbu Tsheehama will receive a full hero’s funeral at the Heroes’ Acre this Saturday.

Family members of the late Tsheehama told Nampa that Government had decided to accord the former Minister of Safety and Security a hero’s funeral.
The remains of Tsheehama, who died on Sunday evening in the Otjiwarongo Medi-Clinic after a long struggle with asthma, are still in Otjiwarongo.
According to his family, the remains will be flown from Otjiwarongo to his home village of Onangodhi in the Omusati Region this morning for the family there to pay their respects.
The body will then be flown to Windhoek in time for tomorrow’s memorial service at Parliament Gardens, where it will lie in state for the nation to pay its respects.
Minister of Safety and Security Nangolo Mbumba, who was asked by President Hifikepunye Pohamba to oversee the funeral arrangements on behalf of Government, confirmed to Nampa that Tsheehama would indeed be honoured by the State.
Although he did not divulge whether Tsheehama will be buried at Heroes’ Acre as the family said, he added that Government would make an official statement.
Tsheehama is survived by his wife, Nalukale, and six children. – Nampa
