Training ‘you can bank on’

BANK Windhoek on Tuesday announced the names of the 22 students who will attend the Candidate Bankers Training course this year.

It is the 11th year that the bank is offering the course and it received so many entries last year that it decided to have two courses this year. About 1 300 applications were received and only the best of the best were chosen.Since the launch of the Candidate Bankers Training (CBT) programme in January 1996, 350 students have graduated and the majority of them are still employed with Bank Windhoek. The cost of the programme amounts to about N$680 000 a year and since its launch the bank has spent more than N$6 million on training. To stay in the programme, students need to maintain an average mark of 80 per cent throughout the five months of training. The bank says this is to ensure that once they are placed in branches throughout the country, Bank Windhoek customers only receive the best possible service.Students receive training in various fields ranging from the bank’s internal systems to fraud prevention. The first two-and-a-half months are theoretical training and in the second half the students spend time in Bank Windhoek branches, gaining practical experience of the banking industry.About 1 300 applications were received and only the best of the best were chosen.Since the launch of the Candidate Bankers Training (CBT) programme in January 1996, 350 students have graduated and the majority of them are still employed with Bank Windhoek. The first two-and-a-half months are theoretical training and in the second half the students spend time in Bank Windhoek branches, gaining practical experience of the banking industry.
