Nelson Mandela’s youngest great-grandchild, born three months premature last Tuesday, has died.
Four-day-old Zenawe Zibuyile Maienne Mandela appeared to be doing well, and his parents Zoleka Mandela and Sekoati Tsubane were overjoyed as it appeared the baby would be fine.But unspecified complications set in and little Zenawe died on Saturday night.It is the second tragic loss for Zoleka, Mandela’s grandchild, after her daughter, Zenani, 13, was killed last year in a car crash on the eve of the World Cup.Zoleka is married to ‘7de Laan’ actor Tsubane, and it was a statement released last night by the soapie’s public relations team that alerted the media to the tragedy.Nelson Mandela Foundation spokesman, Sello Hatang, was unavailable for comment yesterday morning. – Cape Argus
