AGNES Tjongarero was re-elected as the president of the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) after she successfully fought off challenger Kelly Nghixulifwa to the position at the Hage Geingob Stadium on Friday.
Tjongarero, who will be serving the body for four more years, garnered 19 votes, compared the Nghixulifwa who only managed 10.
Former secretary general, Abner Xoagub was replaced by Callie Shaefer. Schaefer, a former member of the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC), was unanimously elected to the position.
Namibia’s track supremo Frank Fredericks lost by one vote to Fanie Oosthuizen for the treasurer portfolio. Oosthuizen had 15 votes, compared to 14 for Fredericks.
