Tiger Wheels win Top Score Tourney

THE annual Top Score Seven a Side Tournament came down to a thrilling finish when Tiger Wheels & Tyre beat Bank Windhoek II on penalties in the final.
After the match ended goalless during normal time it went down to penalties and Tiger Wheels prevailed 3-2 when their goalie saved Bank Windhoek’s third shot.

Tiger Wheels, who had never won the tournament before, received the winners prize of N$12 500 while Bank Windhoek II received the runners up purse of N$7 500.The defending champions Plascon were knocked out in the semifinals, going down 2-0 to Bank Windhoek II, while Tiger Wheels beat Top Score 1-0 in the other semifinal. In the third placed playoff Plascon beat Top Score 1-0 to clinch the third placed prize of N$6 000 while Top Score received N$4 000 for finishing fourth.Meatco Okapuka won the Plate division after beating Rehoboth Properties 4-2 in the final. In the Plate semifinals, Rehoboth Properties beat ITN Dream Team 1-0 and Meatco Okapuka beat Alexander Forbes 2-0.It was the 11th consecutive year that the social seven-a-side tournament had been held, which was once again well supported by some of Namibia’s leading companies.A total of 64 teams started the tournament in November 2010, competing on Friday evenings at the Ramblers field. The competition was originally supposed to finish in April, but due to the large amounts of rainfall that Namibia received, a lot of the matches had to be postponed due to waterlogged pitches and the tournament eventually was completed two months later.- namibiapsort.com.na
