Three killed in Outjo rampage

A MURDEROUS rampage claimed the lives of two small children and a young woman in a knife and arson attack at Outjo in the early morning hours of Monday.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested after the incident in which two children burned to death and a 23-year-old woman was killed in a knife attack, a Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Stephan Nuuyi, said yesterday.The suspect is expected to make an appearance in court today.According to Nuuyi the deadly events took place around 02h00 on Monday at a house at Outjo.The suspect is claimed to have been involved in a quarrel with the 23-year-old Bertina Uwu-Khaes. This altercation ended with him using a knife to stab her 17 times, Nuuyi said. Uwu-Khaes was stabbed to death.Another woman, who tried to interfere and to stop the stabbing, was also stabbed ten times. She was taken to the Outjo Hospital in a critical condition, Nuuyi said.Two children, named as Seonndele Gabathuler, aged three, and Simon Gabathuler, four months old, were in the house where the knife attack was taking place. The alleged killer then set the house on fire, Nuuyi reported.Both children were killed in the fire.The suspect has been arrested on charges of murder, arson and attempted murder, according to the Police.
