ALLOW me to submit to your well-read newspaper a view on the article dated 5 April 2012 in which PA Schmidt mentioned that the speech of former Governor and the deputy chief of the Berseba Clan at the independence celebrations in Mariental left out some of the historical facts that the South has contributed to the great country today known as the Land Of The Brave.
It is very well known that the whole South has made sufficient contribution, be it outside or inside Namibia. But let me come to the point why I as a young Namibian want to take part in this debate that outlines the contribution made by my elders, some of whom have not enjoyed the fruits of our independence up to now. I feel we should rather focus on how we can empower our people. We have overcome the battle for independence. So it’s now part of our history and should be left as such.We are now faced with unemployment and other issues in this great part of our country which need our ideas and inputs to make it a better place for the inhabitants of the South as to how we can develop them better.
