Focus, the upcoming producer from the music duo ‘Champion League djz’, has been dominating the most recent wave of artists.
The artist, who started his music journey in 2002 alongside his high school buddy Switch, has produced hit tracks such as ‘Dorado’ by DJ Vuyo featuring Page, while also co-producing ‘Ila Mutale’, a song by award-winning artist Gazza.
In an interview this week, the artist described his music journey as interesting, yet challenging.
“I have actually produced a lot of songs, some I just can’t remember, I have also worked with DJ Alba and King Tee Dee,” he says.
While he has always wanted to be a teacher, Focus says fate steered him towards music.
After completing his high school education, Focus turned to music, learning basic skills at a studio at Okuryangava.
“I would go sit there and watch other producers make beats and that is how I learned,” he says.
Focus says that while those behind the scenes of music production hardly get recognition, he decided to work on perfecting his art and avoid the limelight.
With the mission of becoming an undisputed legend in the industry one day, Focus said he tries to always be versatile through his music.
He says he has produced music from different genres, including afrobeat sounds, reggae, amapiano, kwaito and R&B tunes.
“I don’t have a specific genre I produce, I believe as a producer, you need to be able to produce everything without limiting yourself,” he says.
To expand his wings even further, Focus worked with musicians such as Adora, Kalux, Sally Boss Madam and Kaptein Tswazis.
Apart from music, Focus is also a DJ who has showcased his art at major events such as the Yenda Festival, sharing a stage with both local and international artists.
Asked what he is currently working on, the artist promised more shows and hits are on the way.
“I am honoured, really, I have not been in the industry for so long, but at least people are now getting to witness my abilities, so, more shows on the DJ side and more hits coming soon,” he says. – unWrap.online
